Tomato Harvest

With 100 plus tomato plants in our yard, this is just the tip of the iceberg.  As I mentioned in a previous post, these tomato plants really came out of nowhere.  I didn't plant any of them.  They just showed up alongside the fuschia iceplants that I bought at Lowe's on Memorial Day weekend.  It was a summer of anticipation waiting to see what tomato varieties we'd end up with.  Well, we were pleasantly surprised to have a combination of the popular hybrid varieties available at most nurseries, two Roma tomato varieties and my personal favorite, the Campari tomato.  I can't tell you much more than that.  There are one of two plants that appear to be an heirloom variety.  I'm really interested in saving those seeds for next year!

Tomato Harvest
My sister made Ina Garten's Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup today.
I made a tomato vinaigrette dressing and some caprese salad.  I'll probably use the Barefoot Contessa's soup recipe tomorrow and serve it with BLT sandwiches. I might try to oven dry some tomatoes if I have time.  Hope your weekend is going well.

Tomato Harvest

Comments:
These came along by accident? Amazing!! I only had two little cherry tomato plants this year. Such a bountiful harvest you have!

Wow, that's A LOT of tomatoes, please save me some :-)
